Black Belt Eagle Scout & Mato Wayuhi

Black Belt Eagle Scout & Mato Wayuhi at The Vanguard - OK

Songs of return, healing and ancestral knowledge connect the two Indigenous artists sharing this stage. Katherine Paul's Black Belt Eagle Scout and Oglala Lakota multi-instrumentalist Mato Wayuhi meet at The Vanguard Friday, December 4, 2026, at 8:00 PM, and the evening promises something rare: music built from the land, the water, and the sky.

Black Belt Eagle Scout centers her work on the Pacific Northwest, ancestral lands, and the quiet power of coming home. Her latest album campaign, The Land, The Water, The Sky on Saddle Creek, carries those themes forward with layers of guitar, voice, and intention. Mato Wayuhi, known for his work on Reservation Dogs and his solo studio craft as writer, producer, and arranger, pulls from ancestral Lakota knowledge to shape every note. Both artists create from places most songwriters never reach.

This is a night for listeners who value stories over spectacle, connection over volume. The Vanguard offers the kind of room where every lyric lands, every silence speaks, and two voices from different nations find common ground. If you're ready to hear music that honors where it comes from and where it's going, Tulsa won't offer many chances like this one. Be part of the conversation.
