John R. Miller at Mercury Lounge - OK

John R. Miller heads to Mercury Lounge in Tulsa on December 8, 2026 at 8:00 PM, bringing a sound that sits in alt-country and Americana while carrying the scratchier instincts of punk and other unconventional rock. That combination gives his songs a grounded feel without sanding off the rough edges, which is part of the appeal. If you like singer-songwriters who sound like they have spent real time living inside their material, this is an easy show to lean toward.

Miller's background helps explain that balance. He was born in the Washington, DC area, raised in West Virginia, and came up in the Shenandoah Valley playing in high school garage bands before discovering traditional fiddle music. He later toured in an old-time string band, then moved into higher-profile Americana stages, and that path shows in how his music can feel rooted yet restive. The active solo project branding tied to The Great Unknowing adds another layer, confirming that this is a current creative identity with its own shape and focus.

For Tulsa concerts listeners who want something more specific than a broad roots-rock booking, Miller offers a strong reason to show up. His work has a clear point of view, enough grit to keep things from feeling predictable, and enough melodic and traditional influence to reward close listening. It is the kind of performance that can appeal to Americana regulars and newer listeners who want to hear how those styles get pushed in fresh directions. Explore the ticket listings for John R.
