Willi Carlisle

Willi Carlisle at Mercury Lounge - OK

Willi Carlisle brings a kind of folk music that feels sturdy, strange, and deeply human all at once. At Mercury Lounge in Tulsa on February 18, 2027 at 8:00 PM, his songs invite listeners into stories shaped by water rights, queerness, class consciousness, and the everyday knots people live with. That mix gives his work a pull that reaches beyond genre labels and speaks directly to anyone who likes music with a point of view.

What makes Carlisle especially compelling is how he handles serious material without sanding off the rough edges. He frames his writing as storytelling that documents struggle while balancing humor and hope, a combination that can make a room feel both thoughtful and alive. His catalog also shows real range: Winged Victory is rooted in traditional folk and filled with oddball characters, while The Universal Bubba stretches into funk, Americana, Cajun, oldtime, and experimental music. On Critterland, produced by Darrell Scott, he uses vocals alongside banjo, harmonica, button-box, guitar, and fiddle, which gives his sound a tactile, hand-built quality.

For anyone drawn to Tulsa concerts that offer something more personal than a straightforward night of songs, this is an appealing stop. Carlisle's Arkansas roots and his place in the broader American folk tradition give the performance a grounded sense of lineage, while his writing keeps it current and distinctive. If you like artists who can make a sharp observation feel like a lived-in tale, this listing deserves a look.
