Come From Away

Come From Away at Liddy Doenges Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

An unexpected landing becomes a story about what strangers can do for one another in Come From Away. Set around the 38 planes diverted to Gander, Newfoundland, after the September 11 attacks, the musical finds its emotional pull in the people brought together by that disruption. Theatre Tulsa presents the production at the Liddy Doenges Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center; this performance begins November 5, 2026, at 8:00 PM.

The appeal is deeply human. Travelers have been taken far from their intended destinations, and a community suddenly has people to welcome. That situation gives the story its tension, but also its warmth. If you enjoy theatre that brings a large event down to individual lives, this musical offers a reason to lean into the characters and the choices they face.

Irene Sankoff and David Hein wrote the book, music and lyrics. Their show went on to 1,669 Broadway performances and won the 2019 Olivier Award for Best New Musical. Those achievements offer some background to its reputation, but you do not need to know its production history to connect with the premise. The heart of the invitation is a story about kindness under extraordinary circumstances, told through musical theatre.

This is a local Theatre Tulsa production, an appealing opportunity to see the work through a Tulsa company's staging. Its run spans November 5–8, with a November 6 performance also listed if you are choosing between evenings. For visitors browsing Tulsa theatre, this date puts a story of welcome and shared humanity at the center of a night out.
