Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker

Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker at Chapman Music Hall at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

A holiday ballet can pull in a crowd through story alone, and Tulsa Ballet: The Nutcracker has that kind of immediate appeal. At Chapman Music Hall at Tulsa Performing Arts Center on Saturday, December 12, 2026 at 2:00 PM, the production places young Marie's Christmas Eve journey in 19th-century Germany at the center of the evening. The Nutcracker Prince, the Mouse King, and the Sugarplum Fairy give the tale its familiar shape, making it easy to step into even if you only know the title from the season.

Part of the attraction is the way Tulsa Ballet approaches the material. The company describes its artistic roots as blending classical dance with dramatic theatre, which fits a work that depends on movement to carry both plot and feeling. Choreography by Val Caniparoli and Ma Cong gives this staging a contemporary company identity while keeping the story's clear emotional line intact. That combination can be especially appealing for audiences who like their holiday entertainment grounded in recognizable characters and a strong sense of stagecraft.

For anyone exploring local stage productions, this performance offers a refined seasonal outing with broad appeal. It is a title built on atmosphere, recognizable imagery, and the kind of narrative momentum that makes dance feel instantly accessible. Tulsa Ballet also says it is regarded as one of the top ballet companies in North America, adding further interest for viewers looking for an established company presentation.
