Les Miserables

Les Miserables at Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

Few titles carry the immediate emotional pull of Les Misérables, and Theatre Tulsa's production gives that classic weight a distinctly local setting. On January 22, 2027 at 8:00 PM, the musical arrives at the Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center, where the intimacy of the room can make its grand story feel especially direct. For audiences who like theatre that blends big feeling with real moral stakes, this is an easy one to picture as a strong night out in Tulsa theatre.

Based on Victor Hugo's novel, the show centers on Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert in an epic 19th-century redemption story. That framework gives the piece its lasting appeal: pursuit, forgiveness, duty, survival, and the possibility of change all stay in motion at once. Add music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and a book by Alain Boublil and Schönberg, and the result is a musical that has remained one of the stage's defining works. Even people who know the title well can still be drawn in by the tension of its central conflict and the sweep of its storytelling.

This production also comes through Theatre Tulsa's Broadway Series and its locally produced musical lineup, which connects the event to a company that identifies itself as Oklahoma's largest and longest-running non-profit theatre company. That local presentation matters for anyone who enjoys seeing familiar material handled within a community arts tradition rather than as a remote road show.
