Les Miserables

Les Miserables at Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center

A story of hope under pressure still feels immediate when it is staged with this kind of focus. Theatre Tulsa's Les Misérables arrives at the Williams Theatre at Tulsa Performing Arts Center in Tulsa, Oklahoma on January 23, 2027 at 2:00 PM, bringing Victor Hugo's sweeping novel to a room built for close attention. The setting adds a human scale to a work known for its moral urgency, making it a strong pick for anyone who likes theatre that reaches for both emotion and ideas.

At the center are Jean Valjean and Inspector Javert, whose conflict gives the musical its driving tension. That epic 19th-century redemption story has endured because it keeps faith, justice, duty, and change in motion at once. With music by Claude-Michel Schönberg, lyrics by Herbert Kretzmer, and a book by Alain Boublil and Schönberg, the piece has a distinctive theatrical voice that continues to resonate far beyond its original era. The appeal is not only in its scale, but in the way its story asks audiences to think about who gets second chances and what they cost.

This production is part of Theatre Tulsa's Broadway Series and locally produced musical lineup, connecting the event to Oklahoma's largest and longest-running non-profit theatre company. That local context gives the evening added interest for anyone who follows theatre performances in Tulsa and wants to see a landmark musical presented within the city's own arts tradition. The 421-seat Williams Theatre also suggests a particularly intimate way to meet a well-known classic.
